Flutist and Educator Biljana Pesic is an accomplished musician of outstanding versatility. Biljana was recognized for her musical potential at a tender age when chosen as one of three children in her 2nd grade to attend the elite musical academy Metodija Patcev. Biljana was immediately accepted at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School Of Performing Arts, a school made forever famous by the Motion Picture Adaptation FAME.
In New York Biljana performed in the Morelli Honors Woodwind Quintet and her intensified studies landed her Master Classes with flute heavyweights like Michael Parloff and Walfrid Kujala, a Certificate of Excellence in Chamber Music at the High School Level presented by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and a scholarship to the University Of Nevada Las Vegas upon her graduation. Obtaining her Bachelors in Music with an emphasis in flute performance at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Biljana held principal chairs in the UNLV Wind Symphony, UNLV Symphonic Orchestra, UNLV Symphonic Band and the UNLV Star Of Nevada Marching Band.
Biljana has served the tri-state area for the past 25 years as the Head of the Kindermusik Department at the Calderone School of Music in East Hanover, New Jersey. As an educator, Biljana's students have won principal chairs in advanced bands and orchestras including All State Band, All Eastern Band and Regional Band, and have excelled in CSM evaluations and placed high at Golden Key/Mid Atlantic Competitions. Instructing students as young as 3 years old, Biljana's wide range of pedagoguery includes Music Theory, Ear Training and Performance for all ages and skill levels encompassing teaching methods that range from the Alexander Technique to the Suzuki Technique.
Biljana currently lives in Astoria, Queens with her husband Martin and their two children and is currently accepting flute and piano students in the New York City and New Jersey Area.
